During the 25 and 26 of November of 2005, the International Meeting“Migration and Mental Health: Perspective of the Transculturality in Integration” ,was held in the Faculty of Psychology of the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), with the collaboration of the Official School of Psychologists of Madrid (COP), the Madrid Association of Therapy of Family and Couple other Humans Sistems (AMTPFOSH), the Psychosomatic Medicine Society and Medical Psychology, the Couple Therapy Systemic Family Therapy, Alcohol and Drug Problems Training and Treatment Institute (ITAD) and the Institute of the Family, Formation and Intervención (IFFI).
This meeting reunited more than 30 outstanding speakers with different professional profiles: Social psychologists, Psychiatrists, Lawyers, Mediators; of different nationalities: Spain, Peru, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Cuba, Venezuela, Uruguay and Argentina.
During the meeting, round tables, workshops, colloquies and communications were held, dealing with the following subjects: “The Transcultural psycotherapy and Integration”. “The intervention Psicoterapeutic from the different Associations and NGOs that work with immigrants”, Intervention with immigrants through the assistance Network ”, “the Legal Counceling for Immigrants”, “nonverbal Communication”, “Integration of women through art”, “Parentality and adolescence in immigration: its therapeutic coverage”, “When the immigrants were European”, “Culture or Madness”, “Youth Immigrant: The second generation. ”, “the figure of the therapist: the formation of the professionals in Transcultural Psycotherapy”.
This meeting achived to offer, to more than 100 assistants, a space for exchange of ideas, that through the clinical experience and creativity, allowed to approach the reality of the migratory phenomenona for a sucessful integration .
Both the assistants and the speakers concluded to make a Political call to the National, Autonomic and Municipal Authorities, as well as to, Associations, Unions, Parties, and in special to the Institutions and the Professionals of the Medicine, Social Psychology, Services, and to the society as a whole, to express their preoccupation on different problems both subjective and objetives ones that the migrants demands.
