Inaguration of the Spanish Association for Migration Studies and Transcultural Psychotherapy
On the 17th of March of 2005 , in a simple act presided over by
Mr. Eduardo Brik, the inauguration of the Spanish Association of
Migratory Studies and Transcultural Psycotherapy, took place.
The actwas held in the heardquarterst of the Official School of Psychologists of Madrid, with attendance
of guests linked to the reality of the multiculturality in Madrid, professionals of the Mental Health,
the Medicine, the Intercultural Mediation and others interested in the subject.
Eduardo Brik, Doctor, Psychotherapist of Pair and Family, Educational Supervisor (FEATP and FEAP), Expert in Transcultural Psycotherapy, Coordinator of the Master degrees in Family Systemic Therapy in the Complutensie University of Madrid, in its quality of president and founder of this Association, took the opportunity to make a public recognition of the people who have contributed with their efforts to the creation of this Association: Gabriella Bianco, Psychologist and Coach, Expert in Psychology of Migrations and Transculturality; Socorro Jiménez, Psychologist; Eglée Iciarte, Psychiatrist, Honorary Professor of the Medicine Faculty of the UAM and family Psychotherapist; Fidel Hernandez, Expert in Transcultural Therapy; Javier Camarasa, Psychiatrist and familiar Psychotherapist and Carlos Alvarado, Educational Psychologist of ITAD. Also participated as speakers during this act, outstanding members of national and international institutions that develop their work in the field of migration. Futher more, important organisms were represented: Miguel Rodriguez Villanueva, Secretary of the Delegation of the Government in Madrid; Carlos Boggio, representative in Spain of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR); Carmen Peñalba, director of office of the the International Migration Organitations (IOM); Fernando Chacón, president of the School of Psychologists of Madrid (COP); Jose Felix Rodriguez, coordinator of the Area of Psycotherapies of the School of Psychologists of Madrid; Leticia Silvela, responsable of the Area of Psychology of the Spanish Commission of Aid to Refugees (CEAR) and Fidel Hernandez .
All emphasized the valuable contribution, of different aspects of the migration phenomenona, agreeing in the necessity to combine efforts to take care of the increasing demands of the migrants and all the contribution that the Spanish Association of Migratory Studies and Transcultural Psycotherapy can have in relation to the the Psycotherapy and integration of the immigrants in our society. Eduardo Brik spoke of the urgent need to the addresed the psychological and social issues and of the activities that it aims to carry out .Gabriella Bianco made a presentation of the objectives of the Delegation of the Association in the Balearic Islands, of its 2005 activities program, presenting to the members of this Delegation and professional there CVs. Finally, Carlos Alvarado made the presentation of the first Activity of the Association in collaboration with the Madrid Association of Therapy of Family. Couple and other Human Systems : the publication in the network of the Digital Magazine Ecosyistemica, which will deal specially on subjects related to the Transculturality and the psicoterapeutics and psycho-social Interventions in Inmigración . In order to conclude, a cocktail was offered to the assistants, with the live performance of the musical group of Oscar Avilés who interpreted pieces of the folklore of his country, Bolivia. The toast gave the opportunity to the assistants to fraternize and to show great interest, in addition to the desire cooperation. The final balance of the presentation act was extremely positive and satisfactory, given the great welcoming and the will of the assistants and the institutions to combine efforts to collaborate in the concretion of the aims of the Association.
